This recipe takes a spin on your classic taco. It packages it up into small finger food portions and makes it a perfect dinner option or even pupus to take to your next get together. Football season is nearly upon us and these guys would also be a great addition to your menu for your game day feast.

No taco shells? No problem. These delicious bites use won tons.

But wait, what’s won tons?

Won ton are of Chinese origin. The wrappers are made from flour, eggs, and water and are commonly wrapped around a meat based filling to create a dumpling.

How to make taco cups?

Preheat oven to 350F. Heat a skillet on medium high heat. Add your choice of oil. Saute onion until softened, about 8 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain out excess oil. Add water and taco seasoning and simmer for 5 minutes. Spray cupcake pan with non stick cooking spray. Layer in each cupcake cup one won ton wrapper, about a tablespoon of taco filling, and top with one tablespoon of cheese. Repeat another layer in each cup. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Top with the toppings of your choice (sour cream, more cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions, etc)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 small round onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 24 won ton wrappers
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
