The perfect spicy tuna sushi recipe is easy to follow and results in delicious, flavor-packed sushi.

What is a spicy tuna roll made of?
- Kewpie mayonnaise – This is a Japanese mayonnaise. If you can’t find this any mayonnaise will work.
- Sriracha – Is my favorite hot sauce to use, but use your favorite brand to make the spicy sauce.
- Shoyu – Japanese style soy sauce. This can be found in the Asian aisle at most grocery stores.
- Sesame oil – A little goes a long way. This packs in a punch of flavor.
- Sashimi grade tuna – Fresh tuna is best. Be sure to get your fish reputable source at a fish market or grocery store.
- Green onions – Add pop of color and flavor.
- Nori – Dried seaweed sheets. These can be found in the Asian aisle at most grocery stores.
- Sushi rice – This can be easily made using a rice cooker and white rice at home with a few simple ingredients.
- Maika’i Organic Nori Furikake – Dried, chopped seaweed used to top many dishes. You can find this at your local Foodland
- Bamboo mat – This is the one I have. This will help you roll your sushi like a pro.

How to make spicy tuna sushi?
- For the spicy tuna mixture: To a small bowl add mayonnaise, sriracha, shoyu, and sesame oil. Mix until well combined and set aside.
- Next slice the ‘ahi into small cubes about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place ‘ahi cubes in a bowl and add the spicy mayo mixture along with the green onion. Gently toss to coat.
- For the sushi roll: Place nori sheet shiny side down and rough side up onto the bamboo mat. Spread handful of sushi rice over the nori leaving about ¼ inch along the long edge of the nori uncovered.
- Flip the sheet of nori over so the rice side is down on the covered bamboo mat and the uncovered edge is at the top furthest away from you.
- Add half of the ‘ahi tuna mixture lengthwise along the bottom of the nori.
- Take the bottom edge of the sushi mat with the nori closest to you and begin rolling using the bamboo mat to roll tightly. Squeeze the bamboo mat as you go to help the roll together. Continue to roll and squeeze until you have reached the end.
- Dip your finger in water and dab the edge of the nori to act as a sealant to close the sushi roll.
- Top with Maika’i Organic Nori Furikake. Slice into 8 pieces using a sharp knife and ENJOY!
- Optionally top with sesame seeds and dip in a side of soy sauce
