What is maca powder?

Maca is a vegetable crop grown in Central/South America. It is ground up in to a fine powder that can be added to smoothies, yogurt, desserts, dressings.

There are many variations of the distinction between the two. In general cacao refers to the tree itself as well as the raw, unrefined beans. Whereas cocoa is a term used for the beans after it has been roasted. This can then be processed in to powder, butter, nibs, liquor.

This recipe calls for peanut butter powder. I like using PB Fit. PB fit says their peanut butter powder is peanut butter without the love handles. It has 87% less calories and ⅓ of the calories with 8 grams of protein. Higher protein content will keep you feeling fuller longer. You can substitute for peanut butter if you wish.

Ingredients

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter powder
  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon maca powder
  • 1 cup almond milk

Instructions

  1. Add banana, peanut butter powder, cacao powder, maca poweder, and almond milk to the blender.
  2. Blend until well combined.
  3. Serve immediately and ENJOY!
