Easy 4 Ingredient Apple Crumble

It’s apple season. That calls for warm cinnamon sugar apples nestled between a golden crumbly topping and buttery crust in this easy 4 ingredient apple crumble.

Serve it up ala mode, warm right out of the oven, or chilled in the fridge. If you’re looking for a crowd pleaser, this is it!

Don’t have time to make an apple filling? Not to worry, you can use the canned stuffed. I know, I know nothing beats homemade, but this recipe works well either way.

All you need for this recipe is 4 ingredients

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Apple pie filling

What’s the difference? In short, crisps contain oats and cumbles do not. Making apple dessert a crumble.

Can this recipe be made gluten free?

You can swap out the flour for your favorite glutenous free flour.

Can this recipe be made vegan?

Sure. Swap out the butter for your favorite vegan butter.

Can you make this recipe sugar free?

You betcha. Swap out the sugar for your sweetener of choice. Coconut sugar, monkfruit sweetener. Monkfruit sweetener is much sweeter than plain sugar. How to store apple crumble?

Apple crumble can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days.

How to make apple crumble?

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, and butter. Mix until butter is crumbly and well combined. This can be done in a stand mixer or use a pastry blender. Pour ⅔ of the mixture into a greased 9×13 baking pan. Top with apple filling. Pour remaining dry ingredient mix over the top. Bake for 90 minutes or until golden brown.

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cans 20 ounces each apple pie filling


  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine flour, butter, and sugar. Mix until butter is crumbly and well combined.
  • Grease a 9×13 baking pan. Pour in 2/3 of the dry ingredient mix and gently pat down.
  • Add apple pie filling. Top with remaining dry ingredient mix.
  • Bake for 90 minutes or until golden brown.

  2. I’m making this again (it was so ono) for thanksgiving to bring to Maui from Oahu! What do you suggest I put it in to bring on the plane so it doesn’t get smushed or ruined? Should I put in individual cupcake liners and in a foil pan? Lmk your thoughts! Thank you
