What are crispy tot waffles?

Crispy tot waffles are made by placing cooked tots on a waffle iron to give it the characteristic look of waffles. And the best part is all the yummy toppings. We’ll get to that in a bit.

Ingredients for crispy tot waffles

  • 1 bag (28 ounces) Grown In Idaho Super Crispy Tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toppings of choice

If you want great tots it starts with great potatoes. Grown In Idaho uses fresh-cut, 100% real Idaho® potatoes. You can find Grown In Idaho potatoes in the freezer section at many grocery stores. I got mine from my local Walmart.

From appetizers to main dishes, Grown In Idaho potatoes are a great ingredient to satisfy appetites big and small at any time of the day.

The Grown In Idaho Super Crispy Tots make for the perfect tot waffle. They’re crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

What type of toppings work well on tot waffles?

  • Loaded baked potato: sour cream, bacon, cheese, green onions
  • Bacon and eggs
  • Hawaiian style teriyaki sauce

How to store tot waffles?

These are best eaten fresh. If you happen to have leftovers, place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.

How to reheat tot waffles?

One of the best ways I like to reheat the waffles is to place them back on the waffle iron and heat through. This creates that crispy outer texture. You can reheat in the microwave as well, however, this does not get the crispiness back.

Can you freeze tot waffles?

Although not ideal, you can refreeze. Place in an airtight container and then freeze. This will keep for up to 3 months. When ready to heat, defrost at room temperature for a few hours or in the refrigerator overnight.

How to make tot waffles?

  1. While waffle iron preheats, prepare your tots in the oven or air fryer. See prep instructions on the packaging for your preferred method.
  2. In a large bowl mix Grown In Idaho Super Crispy Tots with salt and pepper.
  3. Place a single layer of cooked tots on the waffle iron and press the lid down firmly. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the waffle iron and add the toppings of your choice and ENJOY!
