This Blue Hawai’i drink recipe makes a cocktail with bright blue hues and tropical flavors. Garnish with a pineapple slice and a drink umbrella for a delicious Hawaiian cocktail.
Slightly sweet and a touch of sour makes a Blue Hawai’i the perfect Hawaiian cocktail. Have it the traditional way on the rocks or blend it up for a slushy treat.
Blue Hawai’i, not to be confused with Blue Hawaiian which uses cream of coconut, was invented in Hawai’i by Harry Yee in 1957. He was a bartender at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki and was asked by a sales rep to create a drink that featured blue curacao. And the rest is history.
Many people think the Blue Hawai’i drink was named after the Blue Hawai’i movie starring Elvis Presley, but the movie debuted in 1961, a few years after the drink was released.
If you love fruity, tropical mixed drinks, then this is the drink for you.
